What are these?

The Great Lakes Museum needs your help to identify the two items that are pictured below.
Both of these items are located in the machinery shed of our museum and we have been unable to identify what they are. Do you know what these are?
If you need a closer look, pop in and see if you can help solve our mystery.

We are open Tuesday to Friday 10am to 2pm, Sat & Sun  1pm to 4pm.

  1. Some type of portable bilge pump for use on the old ships, if you ring the Australian National Martime Muesem in Sydney they can tell you.

  2. The item on the right is for crimping up floorboards.
    The bottom part is located onto the bearer and the teeth bit into the bearer, next you crack the lift to move the plate front to compress the timber floorboards together so you engage the tongue and groove of the timber flooring.
