Visiting Great Lakes Museum with his wife Diane last month was Gary Victor Fazio – grandson of Vincenzo (Vince) Fazio. Vince Fazio married Lillian Jane Hardy, the third daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James Hardy of Darrawank. Gary had previously donated a portrait of James Hardy to the museum’s collection which had been removed from display in preparation for digitising to museum preservation standards before being uploaded to the ‘clickHistory Great Lakes’ database along with many more early pioneering family photographs held in the museum’s archive.
Gary Fazio was born in Tuncurry in 1941 and while growing up lived in both Tuncurry and Forster. His schooling was in Forster and his first job was with Graham Barclay (first employee). Gary left Tuncurry in 1962 and became a licensed builder working on major construction sites in Sydney.

Our community is very lucky to have volunteers who are committed to preserving and conserving the heritage of this area, so that Gary, his children or even his grandchildren, will be able to access images and information about their ancestors’ and their part in the development of this area.
